What is Forage Harvesting?

Forage harvesting is the process of cutting and collecting crops such as grass, maize, and cereal silage, then chopping them into fine particles for efficient storage and feeding. Proper forage harvesting helps preserve feed quality, reduces spoilage, and improves efficiency during the growing season.

At McClintock Contracting Ltd, we use modern forage harvesting machinery operated by experienced professionals to ensure every job is completed accurately and on schedule. Whether you require harvesting for livestock feed or commercial silage production, we provide reliable solutions tailored to your needs.

OUR ADVANTAGE

Harvesting Capacity When Timing Matters

With decades of agricultural contracting experience, McClintock Contracting Ltd provides a complete forage harvesting service backed by modern machinery, experienced operators and the capacity to get the job done when timing matters.

We understand that every stage of the harvest contributes to the final result. From mowing and raking through to chopping, cartage and stack work, our team works together to keep the harvest moving efficiently, with a strong focus on attention to detail throughout the entire operation.

Forage Harvesting

Set Up for the Conditions

Southland conditions can change quickly, which is why our harvesting fleet gives us the flexibility to adapt. In wetter conditions, our low-ground-compaction silage trailers help reduce the impact of heavy machinery across paddocks. When ground conditions allow, trucks provide an efficient transport option, particularly where greater cartage capacity is required.

Having both options available means we can select the most appropriate transport setup for the paddock, ground conditions and distance being travelled.

Mobile Weighing

Our mobile weighbridges allow harvested crop to be weighed on farm, providing customers with accurate information on the quantity of crop harvested.

This is particularly valuable where crop yields need to be recorded, feed quantities monitored, or harvested feed is being bought or sold.

Attention to Detail

Good forage harvesting is about more than getting the crop off the paddock. Our team takes pride in the details throughout the harvest — from crop pickup and consistent chopping through to efficient cartage and careful stack work.

Our focus is on keeping the operation running smoothly while helping our customers put quality feed in the stack.
